Guayaquil, 14-15 April 2018
UNIVERSIDAD ESPÍRITU SANTO, Guayaquil, Ecuador
At the “International Dean’s Course (IDC) Networking meeting” and “Strengthening the Role of Universities in Developing Countries” conference in Berlin in November 2017[1], we recognized the interest and the importance of stronger tights between alumni of previous DIES IDC courses.
During the conference we had the idea to organize one meeting per year, together with the Module 3 in Latin America, as a first step to start this initiative. Coinciding to our visit to Ecuador, due to Module 3 of our DIES IDC LA 6th edition, we decided to coordinate a first Alumni Meeting at the UEES, which kindly offered us its rooms for the event. The main aims of this meeting are to strengthen the networking of all our Alumni and to analyze the main problems and challenges that Higher Education in your countries are exposed to. We will focus on the influence of different regional backgrounds and use some cases of studies performed in Latin America and abroad in order to look for answers and solutions.
As topics, we chose for this first meeting “Research Management”, “Internationalization” and “Gender equity” in Higher Education in Latin America. The parallel working groups aim to identify and discuss specific higher education needs, address challenges, try to identify problems and also possible pathways to overcome the problems.
We also want to use the opportunity to discuss about the career after IDC and also to figure out in how far the acquired knowledge has been applied in practice and if the projects formulated in the SAP have been successful.
The meeting is going to take place from 14 to 15 April 2018 at Universidad Espíritu Santo in Guayaquil, Ecuador. If you would like to register, do not hesitate to contact us and ask for the registration form (See contact information below).
We planned the registration on Saturday 14 April from 9 to 10 a.m. where you can also pay the conferences fee (60 USD). The conference will start on Saturday at 10 a.m. and conclude on Sunday after lunch (around 3 p.m.). All coffee breaks, lunches and a conference dinner on Saturday at 8 p.m. are including.
Please contact us, if you need help with the accommodation. Most of participants are going to stay at Hotel Wyndham Guayaquil and if you are interested we can manage the booking, which should be covered by your own founds at arrival.
Please, feel free to contact us at any time should you have any further questions.
We are very happy to meet you in Ecuador!
Best regards,
DIES IDC LA Team
